Gift from the Sea

We had a wonderful Gift from the Sea type weekend...the perfect balance of couple time, kid time, family time, friend time, and alone time...ahhhh! Thanks to MiMi and PaPa for keeping the kids overnight Friday! (Where was my camera?!?!? No pics!) Mike and I got to go out to dinner sans kids! YAY! Then Sat. morning we got to go to a Bar Mitzvah for one of Mike's former students....really really neat to see a 13 yr old chant in Hebrew and read from the Torah in Hebrew...wow! It was really impressive and cool to witness part of the Bible come to life that way...I had never been to one (Mike has when growing up) so it was really special for me to be able to go...

Then I headed off to a college friend's baby shower out of town Sat. afternoon and Mike picked up the kids and had a relaxing afternoon with them...We had a lowkey rest of the weekend...Church was the only thing on the docket Sunday....and the sermon was on "finding rest" :) ...I felt very refreshed and rested after a very balanced weekend!

2.5 Well Visit

Carter had his 2.5 well visit today (and I germxed his hands like crazy after he touched everything in the joint!) My baby boy is stretching out and losing some of his toddler chub...

Weight: 35 lbs 4 oz (90-95%tile)
Height: 37.5 (75-90%tile)
(Don't have M's to compare bc they didn't do 2.5 well visits back then...but weighing them at MOPS last week they weighed EXACTLY the same...he will soon be the BIGGER little brother)

We are grateful he is a healthy little boy and working on social skills and starting to talk more in the last month...we are going to get his speech eval. on Friday so we will get to see if he needs extra help or just a little more time...

I love these guys so much and often feel like this devo...This parenthood thing is overwhelming and it's just a taste of what God feels for His children...even though we are about to burst at the seams with love for our kids...it's hard to think about God loving us more!

Last night Mike and I were watching our fav show Parenthood...and to see all the parents on there and their love for their kids despite what they might do...I was choking up watching Crosby with his Dad last night on the show...after they had already gotten me with this commercial...my babies are growing up...but they will always be my babies...Just like no matter how old I get I will still be a child in God's eyes...

Lovin' LETTERS!

It is so fun to have a kid old enough to be excited about letters and trying to write! Yay!!! Love how her tongue sticks out when she does her work...it is serious business! Discovered this a few weeks ago through a friends posting on FB and I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it and wish I had it when I taught 1st grade...it will def go home in a Book Buddy Bag when I go back to teaching....such a great DVD! Mallory also enjoys playing this on the computer to work on her letters...I love teaching reading and writing and seeing a whole new world open up for kids...looking fwd to the next few yrs with her as she learns! And something random that I dont want to forget: I love that she asked for "snowy beans" yesterday when she wanted some yogurt covered raisins...

Time

Tues. is usually "sibling day", "chill day," "stay in your pjs if you want day"...we had a lot of fun just hanging together around the house today...

Is it just me or does she look so old in this pic? Where is my chubby toddler!?!?

:)

Carter had fun with his guys and didn't want to stop and smile at the camera...

Our own personal Glockenspiel...whatever will we do without the round and round and round of our little girl once spring comes and the bike is outside?!?!?

Love our slow Tues mornings around here just enjoying being together...

And being with Mags of course!

"Time’s this priceless currency
and only the slow
spend it wise enough to be rich."
Loved this quote and the entry it came from here.

March Migration

G&G arrived Friday for the weekend before headed to FLA for the month of March...the kids were so excited for them to get here Friday night...I sadly double booked and had a 24 hr girl's getaway so I missed out on half the fun bc I left Sat. at 11am...hopefully Gma will share some of the pics she got when they went to the gardens after I left and then of dinner with Uncle Matt and his crew on Sat. I heard they had lots of fun!!! And I had a wonderful time with the ladies here and am waiting on pics to post! :) We had lunch and did a wine tour, then hung out on the resort, worked out at the fitness center, chilled in the hot tub, had yummy food we all brought for dinner...and headed out on the town in the evening...lots of good girl bonding time! What a fun family and friend weekend! :)
(Side-note: Sunday was Carter's half Bday! He is 2.5! Can't believe it! More on that after his 2.5 well visit tom!)
